Lee Marais

Lee started playing the violin at the age of seven while at primary school in Paarl, where she was the leader of the orchestra from Grade 6 upwards.

In 1998 Lee graduated from the University of Pretoria with a B Mus, having studied with Professor Alan Solomon. She also spent eight years, from 1991 to 1999, studying the Suzuki method of teaching violin with Nicolette Solomon. She continued her violin studies with Prof Jack de Wet and is still receiving tuition from him on a regular basis.

Lee is one of South Africa’s most highly qualified Suzuki instructors having completed several years of study with Suzuki trainers Christophe Bossuat and Karen Kimmett in France and in South Africa. Lee has completed a series of courses in Brain Gym in order to further assist her teaching methods and understanding of how the mind works.
